From the moment the Canadian government introduced Bill C-16, which became Canada’s gender identity legislation, dissenting women have been silenced, erased, and kept out of the conversation. It is women and girls who are most affected by gender identity legislation, as some feminists pointed out early on — we stand to lose our spaces, sports, safety, rights and protections, and free speech. This is of course already happening. We are now seeing men competing as women in sport, and winning as a result. We are seeing men accessing women’s and girls’ change rooms, being transferred to women’s prisons, and speaking on behalf of “women,” as “women.” What may have seemed unimaginable just a decade ago is happening.

Despite the fact it is the most vulnerable women — women in prison, women escaping domestic abuse and seeking shelter in transition houses, women struggling with addiction, homeless women — as well as female athletes (who only have the ability to compete at all on account of those who fought for that right as part of the women’s movement), and of course all women and girls needing safety in bathrooms and change rooms, we have been sidelined in the debate.

This is the new misogyny, and it is the worst, by far, we’ve seen in the Western world in years. The backlash against women and the women’s movement has been disguised as progressive — “feminist” even. But the reality is that it is endangering women and kids in very disturbing ways.

Those of us in Liberal or NDP ridings know firsthand how our political representatives respond to our concerns: either by ignoring us or vilifying us.

Last September, the unions shipped in busloads of protesters to bully, harass, threaten, and intimidate the women speaking at the One Million March for Children in Victoria, B.C. Women and their families in the crowd were equally as afraid as protesters surrounded the speaker area and pushed past the barrier, hurling themselves at the stage, using physical aggression to shut down our free speech. Thanks to an FOI, we now know that the police knew that protestors were being brought in to outnumber us and shut down the event, but did not prepare accordingly. As a result, our event was shut down shortly after it began, on account of the situation getting quickly out of hand and becoming too dangerous to continue.

Myself, some local women and community members then took it upon ourselves to organize an event in Nanaimo, where we lost a venue last minute on account of harassment from protestors, and had to scramble last minute to find a new space. The event went ahead at the new location with a great turnout and conversation. We also booked the Cowichan Community Centre for an event, scheduled to take place shortly thereafter, but received an email two days before the event was scheduled to take place, explaining they were cancelling our booking, citing the B.C. Human Rights Code in a pre-accusation of “hate speech.” We moved the event to Parksville, where again, the event went ahead peacefully and with very fruitful discussion.

We are not backing down this year either. We refuse to be erased and silenced. We — the independent women fighting at our own risk, with no institutional support and minimal financial support, have taken it upon ourselves to organize a safe space for Vancouver Islanders to have this conversation in Victoria, where we were silenced last year — to meet others who share their concerns, to organize, to speak about the thing they have been told they may not speak about.

I discovered Emma Thomas, founder of the campaign group, Children of Transitioners, after a letter from the University of Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust responding to Emma’s group, who had questioned the trust on their “perinatal care policy for trans and non binary people policy,” was leaked. Children of Transitioners had inquired about “safeguarding concerns about the sexual and emotional abuse of babies and children of transitioners” and asked about evidence supporting the claim that “male secretions” (that is to say, the “lactation” trans identified males claim they can produce to “breastfeed” babies) are “safe and beneficial for infants.” In the letter, the NHS uses terms like “human milk” as it is “neutral and not gender biased,” and claims the “milk” produced by trans-identified men after taking a combination of drugs is “comparable to that produced following the birth of a baby.”

As I looked further into Emma’s story, I found she has very important insight into the adult transexual male, and the impact these men can have as fathers of children.

For a decade, I ran Feminist Current almost full time; creating content; managing contributors and editors; moderating comments; responding to contact requests; publishing and editing lengthy comment, analysis, and reported pieces; and producing, hosting, and editing the podcast.

At a certain point, I wanted to be able to move onto new projects and take on new issues and debates. I started a second podcast, channel, and writing hub with The Same Drugs. This freed me up to look at things like psychology, free speech, civil liberties, left/right politics, activist movements, ideologies, bodily autonomy, health, and of course the women’s movement outside the boundaries of “feminism.”

While I have rejected political and ideologies labels, I of course remain invested in advocating for women’s sex-based rights, working to (genuinely) empower women, and challenging the global sex trade. I presume I will always be a “feminist,” but the label had begun to feel limiting.

While I have focused some of my energy elsewhere, the Feminist Current podcast remains one of the only truly woman-centered podcasts in the world — certainly the longest standing one. I continue to feature women who have never been platformed before, whose stories are not being told, whose work and activism has been erased or cancelled, who have been blacklisted by mainstream media, who have been ostracized by their communities — left politically homeless in many cases.

Feminist Current is the first podcast to take on gender identity as a central fight. We continue to be among the few who have remained steadfast in opposition to the sex industry.

This year, I interviewed a woman who was assaulted at a rally defending children from gender identity indoctrination. I talked to Jennifer Bilek about her exhaustive work on transhumanism and how Big Pharma and Big Tech fund transgenderism. I interviewed a Canadian “trans widow” whose husband abandoned his family for his fetish, and who now lives in terror, fearing his abuse as he is celebrated as a trans activist. I talked to the brilliant journalist Helen Joyce about why women’s washrooms matter. I delved into the truth about OnlyFans with Alix Aharon, the reality of prostitution in Canada, and trafficking at PornHub.

Canadians have begun pushing back against gender identity ideology in schools en masse. But it has not been easy. I spoke at the first #1millionmarch4kids in Victoria, BC on September 21st, but the event was shut down barely after it began, the police determining it was too dangerous to continue. A second rally happened on October 21st, and this time a woman was assaulted. “Tara,” who is using a pseudonym to protect her safety, attended the event in Nanaimo, B.C., and was punched by a male counter protester. In this episode, I speak with her about what happened.

I first encountered Kajsa Ekis Ekman almost a decade ago, after she became known for her expertise on and analysis of prostitution and the Nordic model of law, implemented in Sweden back in 2009, which had a notable impact on curbing trafficking and the purchase of sex. She published Being and Being Bought: Prostitution, Surrogacy, and the Split Self in 2013 and has worked as a prominent and respected journalist in Sweden for many years. Activists pulled one line out of her book, and labelled her “transphobic,” targeting her with a cancellation campaign. Then, in 2022, Kajsa published The Meaning of Sex: Thoughts about the New Definition of Woman, within which she presents a Marxist feminist critique of gender identity ideology. She has since lost jobs, friends, and support from both leftists and feminists in Sweden. She has not given up on her work, though. This year, Kajsa launched Parabol.press.

I spoke with Kajsa about the situation with gender identity ideology and legislation in Sweden, her cancellation, and how she views the left nowadays.

Helen Joyce is a journalist, editor, and the author of Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality. She is also a founder of Sex Matters, a campaign group advocating for clarity about the two sexes — male and female — in law and in life.

I spoke with Helen about new political developments in the UK around gender identity legislation and women’s sex-based rights, why women’s washrooms matter, the reality of forcing female swimmers to change with male athletes, and her spat with Matt Walsh.

Meghan Murphy: I'm looking forward to talking to you again and hearing about what's been going on of late. One of the things that prompted me to reach out to have you back on the podcast again is that things seem to be changing on the gender identity front in the UK.

The Labour Party recently apparently backed off of its original position on gender identity legislation, saying that it would now protect women’s sex-based rights. Can you explain what happened there, what prompted that, and whether or not you think it will actually make any difference?

Helen Joyce: Yeah, so they're very widely expected to win the next election, which is due next year. It’s not impossible that the government will fall earlier than that and we'll end up having an earlier election. But it's important to understand that no matter how much people care about this issue, it's not going to change many votes.

There are a lot of other things: cost of living crisis, inflation, all the fallout still from Brexit, whether you agreed with it or not. And more than anything else, just that feeling that the government is tired. You know, it's been a conservative led government since 2010.

So really very realistically, Keir Starmer is looking at becoming Prime Minister next year. And he knows that whatever he says about this isn't going to make any difference to that. But what it will make a difference to is how as successful he is as Prime Minister. And the main thing there is what we saw happen in Scotland with Nicola Sturgeon, who is, on this issue, an idiot of the highest order and worse, really decided that her legacy as First Minister of Scotland in the Parliament and Holyrood would be to introduce gender self-ID, despite the fact the Scots don't want it. And she pushed it through in a very authoritarian manner.

This all just really came to a head before Christmas last year, when against last ditch attempts by civil rights activists and grassroots activists to stop her, they pushed it through. And then, delightfully, up turned one of these rapists who suddenly got, you know, prison onset gender dysphoria and decided he was a woman after being convicted for raping two women.

So now the Scottish government has to try and say why he should or shouldn't be in a women's prison and Sturgeon made a total and utter fool of herself. It was such a delight to see her being asked about this man —  who has a Mike Tyson tattoo on his face, and goes around in tight pink leggings showing his cock, wearing a wig to try to hide the tattoo… I mean, an absolute thug —“Are you willing to say that he's not a woman? Are you willing to say he is a woman?” And she ended up basically saying there were three genders: male, female, and rapist.

And it just destroyed her.

Now, other things were happening. That's not why she stepped down. She stepped down over allegations of financial irregularity — very serious criminal allegations — but it was clear that she was now a laughing stock and would be unable to govern if she hadn't had those other problems.

So I think that was the wake up call. That's what I hear from friends in the Labour Party who are very knowledgeable about what goes on behind the scenes. It was a wake up call for Keir Starmer to either settle this issue to the extent that he can before becoming Prime Minister or every single damn interview he does will have the “What is a woman” question.

He foolishly attempted to triangulate for a while. He did an interview in which he said that 99.9% of women don't have penises. (What is the difference between the ones who do and don’t, Keir? That's what I want to know.)

And then it just became clear that he wasn't going to be able to do this, so he said, you know, a woman is an adult human female.

Now, he's never going to apologize to the women who were run out of the Labour Party for saying exactly that. You know, he hasn't reached out to Rosie Duffield, the Labour MP who has done the most to try to publicize this issue.

But that's not really the point. The point is that he won't try to impose a radical gender ideology platform and he is clearly sidelining and silencing people within the party who would want to do that. And if the current Conservative government can get a couple of important legislative things through, I think we'd be pretty sure that Labour will not try to undo them, and that's a really good place to be in. We've got hopefully a year to get a couple of important things done under the Conservatives and to be fairly sure that Labour will just let those things sit there on the statute book.

MM: That is great news. It feels weird to say that is great news because it's like a bizzaro world that we're trying to reverse.

I spoke with Jennifer about her research and what she found about the roots of the transgender movement after “following the money.”

Meghan Murphy: Jennifer, thank you so much for joining me. It's so great to talk to you at long last.

Thank you, Meghan. I'm so happy to be here. I really appreciate your inviting me.

MM: I would love it if you could tell me a little bit about yourself.

JB: God, I just hate using labels today. They squeeze you into a box so easily. But I mean, I guess we need them.

I'm an artist, basically. I've been an artist all my life. I'm a painter. I'm also a writer. I've been a writer for many, many years. I got into journalism at the time of Occupy Wall Street. A friend of mine is a photographic journalist, and she was photographing Occupy Wall Street. She asked me if I would write about it — you know, contributions to go with her photographs.

I'm also — and here we go again — a feminist. I've been a feminist since I was probably in my 20s. I'm probably a very bad feminist... That label is really becoming kind of caustic because nobody really knows what it means anymore. Feminism has been so fractured, especially here in the United States. There's so many factions. You know, there's environmental feminism and there's cyber feminism and there's radical feminism and liberal feminism and corporate feminism. There are so many different feminisms that it's like, well, what are you talking about?

I really like what Kelly Jay Keen is doing in the UK — calling yourself a campaigner for women's rights. I love that because it cuts to the chase: what are you doing instead of what are you. I've been informed by feminist theory, but that's not the total of who I am. It's information that I've taken in and processed, and it's one of the lenses that I view life through.

I also got into the environmental movement [when I was in my 20s]. There's another loaded statement — the environmental movement. What does that mean? [These environmental groups] have all been so corporatized now that it's just ridiculous. I fought for the wellness of the planet. I've put my energies into that and have written about that.

I haven't painted in probably six years because I went down this rabbit hole of the gender industry — what has turned into an industry.

MM: When did you start looking into what you called the gender industry?

JB: Well, it was probably around 2013. I started to gather some material.

I had written a piece for Female Erasure with a colleague and we addressed the money aspect of this. So it was around that time that I started investigating.

I was working with this group on the West Coast and they were trying to get some platforms to speak, but they had already been pigeonholed as transphobic because they acknowledged biological reality. So every time they tried to speak somewhere, all these young people would show up with pink hair and bones in their nose and start screaming. So they couldn't really get any work done. So I said, "Well, let me try and get you some platforms in New York" (you know, New York City where I was).

I didn't realize how deep this actually had gone — you know, the whole censorship thing. And so when I called these different places in New York that could potentially platform them, I secured like three different venues and then I was canceled. You know, like a few days later they'd call back and say, "Oh, we can't, we can't do it." They wouldn't really give a sound reason. But I knew what it was... And I was like, "Wow, this is really something. This is really something because these kids have no power. Who's doing this? Why is this happening?" We have a first amendment here in this country, you know, free speech.

And then of course you and Jordan Peterson were up in Canada talking about the forced speech upon you and him and how dangerous that was. We sort of lost that thread along the way, which I think is really disastrous because it was a really, really important one.

MM: Yeah, he focused on that issue of compelled speech. We both testified at the Senate against Bill C-16 in 2017, and I focused more on the impact on women and girls and the sexism behind gender identity ideology, which, you know, was completely ignored.

JB: Of course. Fast forward all these years later, still completely ignored.

So that's how I got into this.

MM:  I think you did what nobody else really did at the time. Maybe more people are looking into this now, but you still don't really hear about it much. But you, as you said earlier, looked at the money aspect.

I was looking at it from a political perspective — from a feminist perspective, from an ideological perspective. Also, of course from a reality perspective and a free speech perspective. But I had no idea where this came from. I struggled for years to figure out, you know, why did this happen? How did these activists have so much power to be changing laws and institutions across the world?

When did you catch on to the fact that this was a much bigger project than what it was sold as, which was like this grassroots movement for the rights of so-called transgender people.

JB: Well, you know, I'm an American, so whenever we want to find out anything, we follow the money. And money trails don't lie. They tell you everything that you need to know. So that's where I started. So it was quite evident, rather quickly, that this was all connected to the techno medical complex. One of the families that I found first was the Pritzkers.

Jill Ovens has been a committed socialist and feminist for decades. She has fought in the union movement, the women’s rights movement, and the environmental movement for longer than most of us. Jill was an active member of New Zealand’s Labour Party up until very recently. After women’s rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen was mobbed and assaulted in New Zealand in March, Jill decided she’d had enough. She resigned from the Labour Party and founded the Women’s Rights Party, aiming to defend women’s sex-based rights.

I spoke with Jill on the podcast last week about her history as a leftist activist, the silencing of women on the left, and why New Zealand needs a Women’s Rights Party.

In the news:

On Friday, the once great ACLU tweeted in response to the execution of Duane Owen, complaining that the rapist and murderer did not received state-funded cosmetic surgery, referred to as “gender affirming care” (or a “sex change surgery”).

In 1984, Owen attacked a 14-year-old girl, stabbing her 18 times, raping her before and after her death. On a separate occasion, he broke into the home of 38-year-old single mother of two Georgianna Worden, struck her multiple times with a hammer, killing her, then raped her corpse. Worden’s corpse was found by one of her children the next morning. Psychiatrists testified that Owen had faked schizophrenia and had no signs of “gender dysphoria,” but rather that he exhibits sexual sadism. Owen claimed he sexually assaulted women to harvest their hormones, and carried out the attacks to “turn himself into a female.”

The ACLU tweeted that the state of Florida had caused him “enormous suffering,” and that in denying Owen cosmetic surgery in prison, had “violated her right to be free from cruel and unusual punishment for the more than 30 years she was in state custody.”

Free Speech for Women is protesting the ACLU in Washington, DC on August 11th.

The man who brutally murdered lesbian couple Patricia Wright and Charlotte Reed, as well as their son, Benny Diambu-Wright, was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole and placed in the Central California Women’s Facility. Dana Rivers (ne David Chester Warfield) was active in Camp Trans, a male-led harassment campaign against Michfest, an annual woman-only festival which ended in 2015 after ongoing accusations of “transphobia.”

Muslim families protested in Ottawa after an email from the school board directed staff members that it is their obligation to “resources that accurately reflect and honour 2SLGBTQ+ identities into curriculum subjects and the overall learning environment, from Kindergarten to Grade 12.” A video from the protest shows Muslim children stomping on Pride flags. Meanwhile, American progressives are shocked that their much celebrated Muslim-majority city council in Hamtramck, Michigan passed legislation banning Pride flags from being flown on city property. Apparently the diversity points didn’t result in the correct kind of “diversity”…

The Canadian government has given a trans activist group $500,000 to “track anti-trans organizing.” JusticeTrans is a government-funded group now being paid to track women and groups who push back against gender identity ideology and defend women’s sex-based rights. Canadian Heritage, the department of the Government of Canada tasked with promoting and supporting “Canadian identity and values, cultural development, and heritage,” is also the department behind Bill C-11, which gave the government the power to control what Canadians see online.

One Canadian province appears to be pushing back ever so slightly against trans dogma. Support New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs! Naturally, progressive elites are labelling this as “promoting hate.”

The UK recently changed their policy on so-called “trans prisoners,” in response to one high profile case in particular, wherein a rapist named Adam Graham began identifying as “Isla Bryson” in order to be reassigned to a women’s prison in Scotland. The new policy prevents men who “retain male genitalia or have been convicted of a violent or sexual offence” from being moved to women’s prisons. Why are American and Canadian governments not doing the same?

On the podcast, I speak with Amanda Stulman, USA director of Keep Prisons Single Sex, and Jennifer Thomas, the founder of Free Speech for Women who also runs an action group called “Get Men Out,” about this issue and how they are fighting back.

Last month, Jennifer organized a protest at the New Jersey state Capitol in response to the fact that the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women was, at the time, housing 24 men who identify as transgender. The prison has been under scrutiny after it was reported that two women being housed in the facility were impregnated by an inmate last year.

During the protest, Jennifer and Brittany Ortiz, also a member of Free Speech for Women, read letters from women who are currently incarcerated at the prison. One inmate named Kokila Hiatt wrote of the male inmates:

"Many of them are sex offenders. When the males arrive they cease hormone injections and continue living their lives as men.

In other words, they drop the act and start doing what it is they came here for. They engage in sexual relationships with women, manipulate them into purchasing their commissary and have no qualms about bullying anyone who disagrees with them."

ICYMI, this whole trans trend did not start because feminists are all big, stupid failures (though of course some are), but rather because rich perverts put a whole bunch of money into it, ensuring civil rights orgs, reproductive rights orgs, and gay rights orgs would lose funding if they didn’t go along.

Is it ok to fear mentally ill, addicted, threatening men while trapped on the subway with them? Yes. Does that mean troubled souls don’t deserve compassion? No. The woke world thinks the working class need to suffer for their politically correct beliefs.

Third wave feminism sucks.

They’re coming for your kids. On Tuesday, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed a bill preventing parents from intervening and retaining custody should their kids run away from home, seeking "transition." This is of course framed as “protecting minors seeking gender-affirming care,” ensuring their parents cannot intervene. Previously, if a minor ran away from home, shelters and “host homes” in Washington were required to notify parents. Under the new law, facilities can instead contact the state Department of Children, Youth and Families. Minors will also be allowed to stay at these "host homes” (private, volunteer homes that temporarily house young people) without parental permission. Creepy, dangerous, scary.

After Austin Killips became the first man to win a UCI women’s stage race, the world governing body for sports cycling, Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), decided to maybe have a think on its “transgender policy.” UCI said it would be reopening its consultation, aiming to reach a decision in August, having heard from female athletes concerned about including balls in their sport.

San Francisco Pride took their toys and went home after Twisted Sister frontman and longtime gender bender, Dee Snider, dared support Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley’s concerns about transing kids. San Francisco Pride had been set to announce Twisted Sister's song "We're Not Gonna Take It" as the official anthem of Pride 2023.

Is Pornhub going down? Let’s hope so! After it was discovered that the company was hosting (and profiting from) child pornography and videos of trafficking victims on the site in 2020, a petition and accompanying campaign, Traffickinghub, was launched. A scathing exposé about the situation by Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times then lead Pornhub to delete 80% of their content overnight — about 10 million videos. Visa, Mastercard, and Discover cut ties with the site. In 2021, Canadian parliament began to investigate MindGeek (the Canadian-based company that owns Pornhub), and a number of lawsuits were filed on behalf of survivors. The National Centre on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) filed several of these lawsuits, representing victims seeking justice against MindGeek.

I spoke to Haley McNamara, Director of the International Centre on Sexual Exploitation in the UK and a Vice President at the U.S. based NCOSE, about the situation at Pornhub, the Netflix documentary, and NCOSE’s efforts to stop exploitation in porn.

This shouldn’t be news, but it is…. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak says 100% of women don’t have a penis, adding:

“We should always have compassion and understanding and tolerance for those who are thinking about changing their gender. Of course we should.

But when it comes to these issues of protecting women’s rights, women’s spaces, I think the issue of biological sex is fundamentally important when we think about those questions.”

How do we get a Rishi in Canada, eh?

A woman in Norway is suing her employer for unfair dismissal after the organization’s management received an anonymous email complaint about… you know it… tweets! In February 2002, Rianne Vogels tweeted, “Transition … may lead to sterility, sexual dysfunction, lifelong hormone dependency, + complications.” Gasp.

Twitter has rolled back its policy banning “misgendering” and “deadnaming,” also known as the Meghan Murphy rule. The rule was initially announced on Pink News on November 23, 2018, just about an hour after I was permanently suspended from the platform. WEIRD!

Sociologist Dr Laura Favaro had been collecting data on the censorship of gender critical women as part of her research at City, University of London. After publishing an article at Times Higher Education called, “Researchers are wounded in academia’s gender wars,” the university received complaints and suspended her research in response. Favaro says:

“Those with a responsibility to support me have frustrated my ability to progress with the research or denied expected support via actions as well as omissions to act. This includes being ignored, ostracised, bullied, harassed — ending with a dismissal and confiscation of my data.”

A 32-year-old man going by the name Desiree Anderson (also known as Cody D’Entremont) reportedly sexually assaulted a woman at a Windsor women’s shelter. The Windsor police have stated that the suspect was processed as a female and should be referred to as a female.

A 42-year-old man is in police custody after being caught entering the girls’ washroom at Rosa de América school in El Tambo, Peru. The man, identified as Walter César Solís Calero, was dressed as a schoolgirl. Reduxx reports:

“Solís was arrested, and police checked his mobile phone and discovered more photos of Solís dressed in school uniforms, some corresponding to other educational institutions, suggesting that he had entered other schools in the area using the same technique.”

Here’s what you may have missed:

Carla Duda was raised in a fundamentalist, patriarchal religion wherein girls and women had no autonomy, and were viewed only as an extension of man — Adam’s rib. She escaped as a girl, seeking freedom and rights, only to find, as an adult, women were having to fight all over again.

Upon encountering a modern attack on women’s rights in the form of gender identity ideology, Carla writes:

“I had lived this before. Humans with rational faculties will abandon reason, sacrifice their own family members, and subscribe to outrageous and harmful ideas in order to maintain their position in the tribe.

I watched from the sidelines as women were deconstructed into non-entities, and children were set upon by those determined to dismantle immutable categories dictated by nature. I sat in a terrible mix of fear and lethargy until I could not anymore.”

She offers an important warning: never become complacent. Never take your rights for granted.

In the news:

Seven women are suing the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority for admitting a man into its sorority. Artemis Langford (previously known as Terry Smith) became the first trans-identified male to be admitted into a sorority at the University of Wyoming in 2022. The lawsuit states that “Smith is 21 years old, is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 260 pounds” and reportedly watched members of the sorority house with “an erection visible through his leggings.” Langford/Smith has “not undergone treatments to create a more feminine appearance.”

A flyer advertising a “Trans Day of Vengeance” scheduled for April 1 in Washington D.C. circulated online last week but was called off on account of “astronomical amounts of hate from the world.”

Notorious pornographer Paul Little, known as “Max Hardcore,” died at 66 years old from septic shock and pneumonia. For more on Little’s sadism, I highly recommend the Beyond Fantasy series produced by Exodus Cry and Benjamin Nolot. Episode three looks at Hardcore porn and Little in particular. It is incredibly disturbing but tells a necessary truth consistently denied by pro-porn advocates.

Carousel Theatre in my hometown of Vancouver is offering a “Junior Drag Camp” for ages 7 to 11 and a “Teen Drag Camp” for ages 12 to 17 in July. This is particularly depressing to me as I remember attending numerous Carousel Theatre productions as a child, and spent endless summer nights in Granville Island dreaming of becoming a star of the musical theatre, ever jealous of the kids who were lucky enough to be part of the program. As a Top Progressive city, Vancouver unsurprisingly has embraced everything queer culture, from trans activism to drag for kids, but that doesn’t make this anymore rational. Why kids need “drag” training I do not know.

Last week, longtime leftist and Canadian feminist, Judy Rebick, published an article at Rabble (the site that censored my critique of the degendering of language specific to women, causing me to resign way back in 2016, if you recall), apologizing for having supported Vancouver Rape Relief (VRR) in their fight to maintain a woman-only space and collective, many years ago. Rebick was apparently pressured by her leftist comrades into rejecting the “TERF” label, and pledging her alligiance to the trans lobby, explaining she had been “ignorant” but since reeducated. This week, Lee Lakeman, founding member of VRR, has responded.

Here’s what you may have missed:

In 2014, the Conservative government passed Bill C-36, the Protection of Communities and Exploited Persons Act (PCEPA). This legislation is a version of the Nordic model, fought for by (actual) feminists across Canada. It was a huge win for women. In Canada, it is now illegal to pay for sex, to run a brothel, or to pimp someone out. The law, though, is under threat, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has promised to repeal it, thereby decriminalizing the sex industry in Canada.

Endless myths about “sex work” and the idea that legalization makes the sex trade “safer” for women persist among progressives and liberals. There is consistent pressure on the government to treat prostitution as “a job like any other.”

In other words, the fight is not over.

I spoke with Andrea Heinz and Kathy King about the reality of prostitution in Canada, and why "a woman’s choice” is not the only factor. Andrea and Kathy are co-authors of a soon-to-be-released book, When Men Buy Sex: Who Really Pays? Canadian Stories of Exploitation, Survival, and Advocacy. On Saturday morning, Kellie-Jay Keen (also known as Posie Parker), founder of Standing for Women, was to host her Let Women Speak event in Auckland, but was met with a mob of protesters who pelted her with tomato juice and water, yelling, “fuck you cunt” and “go home Posie, go home.” Trans activists pushed down metal barriers to mob the 5’1” mother of four. Keen was forced to abandon the event, fearing for her life, and was escorted away through a crowd of deranged, screaming protesters by police and her security team. The video and further information about Posie’s visit to New Zealand is available at Feminist Current. The whole thing was terrifying to watch, particularly in light of similar protests I have faced in places like Seattle and Toronto, albeit I had a very good security team and police protection in Toronto. Indeed, the Toronto police blocked of the entire street behind the building I gave my talk in to ensure I could get in and out of the building safely. With 700 angry, threatening protesters raging outside, even the police were scared. I am incredibly relieved Posie made it out safely. Watching the video was incredibly upsetting and triggering. Just when you think the tides are turning, this happens, and you realize speaking out continues to mean threats on one’s life.

In the news:

A young detransitioned woman referred to as Layla Jane is suing the medical group and hospital that facilitated her medical transition between the ages of 12 to 17, which included puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and a double mastectomy at 13 years old. Last Wednesday, a letter of intent to sue was sent to the Permanente Medical Group and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals alleging “gross negligence,” accusing Kaiser of allowing “radical, inadequately studied, off-label, and essentially experimental treatment to occur on minors.” Layla told Fox News, “I don’t think I should have been allowed to change my sex before I could legally consent to have sex.”

Wyoming has become the 19th state to ban trans-identified male athletes from playing on girls’ or women’s sports teams. Idaho was the first state to pass similar legislation in 2020, followed by states such as Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. People are catching on in the US — what gives, Canada?

In more men-can’t-cheat-in-sports-anymore news, World Athletics has also banned trans-identified males from competing in elite female events.

Iowa passed two bills last week: one preventing doctors from administering puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to minors, and prohibiting “sex change” surgeries for those under 18, and another preventing students from entering school bathrooms or changing rooms designated for the opposite sex.

The Jazz Jennings story has become evermore heartbreaking as he grows up. On the newest season of I am Jazz, we see Jennings, now 22 years old, crying, telling his mother, “I don’t feel like me, ever.” Jennings has now had four sex change surgeries, went on hormone blockers at 11, and started taking estrogen in high school. He will likely never experience orgasm or reproduce. I think his mother is evil for putting her child through all of this, in the public eye, for profit.

After promoting trans ideology and gender identity legislation for years, The Young Turks complain about “dehumanizing” language like “birthing person” and “people who menstruate.” These are the same people who labelled JK Rowling “transphobic” for criticizing the exact same thing. These people have worms in their brains and zero integrity.

Here’s what you may have missed:

Netflix released a new documentary purporting to dig into allegations of trafficking and nonconsensual videos at Pornhub. Instead, Money Shot gave industry spokespeople, disguised as “sex workers,” control over the narrative resulting in an hour and a half of pro-industry propaganda. I followed up with Benjamin Nolot— the founder of Exodus Cry, one of the anti-trafficking organizations discussed in the documentary, who appeared on the Feminist Current podcast in October — and Alix Aharon — a porn researcher and co-founder of Partners for Ethical Care (PEC) who appeared on the podcast last month — in a YouTube live stream to further explore the angle and claims made in Money Shot.

In other coopting-of-feminism-for-anti-woman-purposes news, International Women’s Day came and went, and it turns out women are over. Ah well. We had a good run!

In the news:

The City of Calgary is asking council to approve a new “Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw” which would ensure a 100-metre buffer zone be in place to stop protests against Drag Queen story hours.

TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney can’t figure out why people don’t want to date him as a “girl” after transitioning.

The Vermont Principals Association (VPA) banned a Vermont private school from participating in sports tournaments, after the school withdrew their girls basketball team from the Division IV state tournament, refusing to play against a trans-identified male on the opposing team.

Pornhub’s parent company MindGeek has been sold to a Canadian private equity firm called Ethical Capital Partners. The firm, which claims to specialize in tech opportunities that “require ethical leadership,” announced the acquisition on its website after the release of Money Shot.

Also, trans activists are weird.
