"This is yet another deep irony of the left, which claims to oppose “authoritarianism” and “fascism” and “tyranny,” while advocating for laws and policies that are or allow for authoritarianism, fascism, and tyranny." - is it irony, or something else?
I think it was Ann Coulter who when attempting to get at the core of what progressives believe, came up with something along the lines of "a progressive is someone with an absolute conviction that there is one set of rules for them, and another completely different set of rules for everyone else."
So yes, leftists rioting and burning down everything in sight, as in 2020, is fully protected by the second amendment (and also exempt from Covid restrictions). But the likes of Charlie Kirk speaking and debating openly on campus, not so much.
Authoritarianism and tyranny are fine, so long as the left get to be the authoritarians.
Brilliant article, Meghan.
