Respectfully, I think that this is a misunderstanding of the woke mindset. These parents believe (wholeheartedly!) that they are ENHANCING their kids' safety and wellbeing, by showing them all the different ways to be, and consequently allowing them maximum freedom to chart their own identity, which will lead to the best possible outcome for them.
And, for me, before the danger of persuing this into body modificaiton via powerful drugs and surgery, I would actually be fine with this attitude. Sure, let's not stereotype what's male and what's female! I struggled to raise a daughter (in the pre-"trans" era) without those stereotypes, and it wasn't easy!
But now, any deviation from the old stereotypes labels you as "trans", and next come the drugs and surgery.
Threading this needle (sterotyping bad, drugs and surgery bad) is difficult and easily misunderstood.
I think that's part of it, yes, but I also think that bringing their kids to Drag Story Hour makes them feel like Good People who are Open Minded and Inclusive. They are Doing the Right Thing.
I think parents are putting 'wokeness' ahead of their kids' safety and wellbeing.

Yes, but they also believe that Doing the Right Thing is GOOD for their kids.
Well, they definitely don't think it's bad for their kids!
