"Rapist"? Seducer?....maybe. Completely inappropriate?...absolutely. Unfit to be a teacher of teenagers?....yep, but I think "rapist" is an over the top descriptor, unless she somehow used force to compel him to perform some kind of act upon her, which doesn't seem to be the case here.
What negative consequences will he be subject to in the wake of her violation of boundaries? I think that will depend on his mental resilience.
Fifteen is too young for this kind of thing regardless, in spite of the views of those who are approving of teenagers "experimenting with their sexual expression" whatever they mean by that, at younger and younger ages.
It does seem strange that some approve of sex in the middle teen years, say 15 or 16, just as long as the other person is nearly as immature and inexperienced. Does that make sense?
But there is no doubt that virtually all 15 year old boys are full-blast hormonal. For many, to be with her isn't just a temptation, it would be a dream.
That doesn't mean they are ready by any means for something as physically and emotionally intimate as sex.
Our biology often outruns our wisdom by quite a lot.
Imagine being 16 and hearing "you are the father!"? That is a teen-age nightmare.
What I find hard to understand is, what motivates a woman to seek intimacy with such a young guy? What the heck is going on in HER head?
Unbearably lonely? Generally unattractive? ( I don't want to me mean here, but frankness is needed if we are to understand )
Has a woman like Christina Formella been abused and, while still wanting to be with someone, wants to be "in control" the way she thinks she will be with such a young guy?
Just flat out sexual compulsion?
That's more common with men, but women aren't absolutely immune from such things.
Or is it something else I haven't thought of?
She is pretty and was even married, so the "in control" thing, or compulsive behavior, seems the most likely explanation.
Any other ideas?
Unless she were to talk truthfully about all this, we can only guess.
We don't have to guess about the boundaries she violated though. No teaching career now. Restraining order. Probably some jail time. An extensive period of probation afterward with mandated counseling / therapy?
And he should probably talk to someone too, not as punishment of course, but just so he can process all of what happened.
Maybe his parents would be adequate, but it would be good for him to have his "feet on the ground" as it were, and professional counseling sessions might be better.
But Meghan's right. I don't want to be flip about it, but don't be surprised if he is smiling about it.
