I agree with everything you wrote, but for what I think may be different reasons. As a Christian, I think the fundamental issue with AI is ultimately religious. It it blurs the line between the Imago Dei, Man made in the image of God; and a lesser thing, built by human hands. In communicating with it, humans are basically degrading ourselves; and even engaging in a sort of idolatry, by thinking that algorithms could love or care for us. I think people do need to take a hard line on it; it's the reason I won't even have an Alexa in my house. And ironically, I think it's similar to the transgender issue with respect to language. Going along with the misuse of pronouns helped to create the idea that trans is 'real'; misuing language to 'speak' with computers has helped strengthen the idea that AI is somehow conscious.
