'The fascists are coming' is what, I’m afraid, the fascists are telling you
The Democrats are no longer the party of democracy, of women, of the people — are we ready to accept that reality and adapt?
Last week, it was reported that the Taliban had published new “vice and virtue” laws, banning women from showing their bodies or faces in public and from speaking or singing in public. Afghan women are not allowed to look directly at men they are not related to by blood or marriage and they may not drive or be driven even by taxi drivers they are without a male escort. Women and girls were already banned from attending secondary school and from most paid employment, from walking in public parks, attending gyms or beauty salons, and not allowed to participate in politics. Earlier this year, the Taliban announced the reintroduction of the public flogging and stoning of women accused of adultery.
You’ll notice that every time there is an election, Democrat supporters (and their progressive, feminist supporters) start with the Handmaid’s Tale-esque fear-mongering: If the Democrats don’t win women will be strapped to beds as breeding machines. If Trump wins, women will lose all their rights and we will all live under authoritarianism.
This rhetoric is strange to me, having watched what the Democrats and these progressive feminists have supported over the past eight or so years. By voting for progressive, supposedly “feminist” parties, women and girls have lost their sex-based rights across North America. Men have been allowed to identify as women, no questions asked, and access female change rooms, transition houses, shelters, and bathrooms. Dangerous male criminals are placed in women’s prisons on account of their “female” identities. Men are competing as women in sport and winning.
Women and girls are no longer permitted to have boundaries that protect their safety and rights thanks to the Democrats and thanks to progressive feminists who continue to vote for the NDP and the Liberal Party in Canada. The only parties that have pushed back against this are, like it or not, the Conservatives and the Republicans.
I’d like you to hear that again — the like it or not. Because it doesn’t really matter if you “like” who you are voting for or not. It doesn’t matter if you “like” the NDP or the Liberals or the Conservatives. It doesn’t matter if you “like” the Republicans. It doesn’t matter if you “like” Donald Trump. Just like we are fond of saying with regard to gender identity ideology: we are talking about material reality — we aren’t talking about your feelings, we aren’t talking about “gender,” we aren’t talking about what you wish or would prefer to be true. We are talking about what is true. And what is true is that progressive parties who claim to stand for women’s rights do not. They have proven this time and time again, and though you would prefer it to not be the case, you need to get real.
Now, you might widen your eyes and insist that Trump (or Pierre Poilievre, for the Canadians in the house) will take away our reproductive rights! Well, he won’t. Not only have both Trump and Poilievre not offered any indication they aim to remove women’s right to access abortione, but in fact no one can take away your reproductive rights. Women have been ending pregnancies since the dawn of time, and will continue to, whether the government likes it or not. Our bodies belong to us, and we must intend to keep it that way. And if at any point the man or woman in charge does threaten our bodily autonomy, we will have to get in our trucks and drive to Ottawa.
But let’s get back to the Taliban, an Islamic fundamentalist group that returned to power in 2021 when President Joe Biden pulled out of Afghanistan, after which 13 U.S. service members and more than 150 Afghans were killed from a suicide bombing at the Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. Exactly three years later, on August 26, 2024, National Guard veteran and ex-Democrat, Tulsi Gabbard, announced she would be endorsing Donald Trump for President of the United States, namely because she doesn’t want more war. She wants less war. And she knows that’s not what a Harris-Walz administration wants.
Tulsi was recently put on the “Quiet Skies” watchlist (supposedly a “terrorist” watchlist, which has failed to find or prevent any terrorist or other threat on an aircraft in all its existence) because she told the truth about the Democratic Party. This means she is subjected to an extended search process every time she flies, and is surveilled on flights and in airports.
Telling the truth is the thing the Democrats hate the most. It’s why they worked so hard to destroy RFK Jr.’s campaign, it’s why they forced Tulsi out, it’s why they force social media platforms to remove information that might put their power at risk and to ban people who say things that contradict their chosen narrative. It’s why they maybe tried to off the probably future President. It’s why January 6 ended up looking like a set up, resulting in the fucking President being banned from Twitter. It’s why they insisted, over and over again, that the Covid jab was “safe and effective,” and that the “vaccinated” they wouldn’t get sick, spread the virus, or end up in the hospital on account of Covid. It’s why they agree that men who say they are women are most definitely women, and must be allowed to trample all over the rights of women and girls as a result.
I could go on, but what is undeniably clear, at this point, is that the Democrats lie about anything and everything. Including women’s rights. And if you like rights and reality, you need to get real about that.
