We are here once again. The same place we were in 2020—a now-distant memory for those invested in forgetting. Which is, apparently, everyone who loves a cause to add to their Instagram stories.
I’m sure there is some kind of psychological explanation for those who jump aboard every manufactured Important Cause—whether it’s fighting “fascism” or “racism” or “genocide,” or some kind of climate catastrophe we all know for sure is Bad, because our friends’ Instagram stories told us so.
Personally, I don’t like one-stop-shop explanations for such widespread phenomenons, replicated time and time again by people who I often like and don’t think are necessarily stupid or inclined toward cult-joining.
