Today is inauguration day and it has been nothing short of thrilling.
Included in the numerous executive orders President Donald Trump intends to sign on his first day in office, which he says will “begin the revolution of common sense,” are vows to defeat inflation; revoke the nonsensical and unhelpful electric vehicle mandate (you hear that Trudeau?); “stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America;” end DEI policies; “bring law and order back to our cities;” and make it official policy to recognize only two sexes that cannot be changed: male and female.
Trump committed to being a peacemaker and unifier, rather than a warhawk, and to returning America to “its rightful place” as the most powerful nation on earth.
It’s a lot of promises, I know, and everything remains to be seen, but it feels as though, after having suffered a decade of woke insanity, censorship, media lies, and progressive smugness, the people have won, and at least for now we are free to speak the truth.
Men aren’t women, people cannot change sex, and there is no such thing as a “trans kid.”
Those of us who have been terrorized, threatened, libelled, censored, blacklisted, cancelled, fired, petitioned, attacked, stalked, and no-platformed over the past decade+ for speaking politically inconvenient truths have been vindicated, and while I cannot believe we had to fight this nonsense in the first place, we can at least take some comfort in knowing that lies are no longer the law of the land.
I have been cancelled and defamed many times over, starting in 2012, for defending women’s spaces and sex-based rights. I don’t expect apologies from the friends, feminists, and leftists who attacked me, defriended me, tried to have me fired, signed petitions against me, protested me, kicked me out of their stupid collectives and Facebook groups, said disgusting things about me, and did everything in their power to destroy me, but I do expect that they feel very stupid right now, and will have to live with the shame of being liars and cowards until they die.
The right side of history is here, and we all now know exactly who was on the other side.
This doesn’t mean our fight is over. In Canada, we still have to make it through an election, and ensure the Conservatives, who are the only party able and willing to stop the gender identity insanity in Canada, win. We then must hold their feet to the fire, and make sure they follow through, without compromise.
We cannot become complacent, because complacency is how we got ourselves to this mess in the first place.
What happened over the past decade is not a story only of stupidity, though certainly stupidity factored in. It is a story of cowardice and complacency. Our population did not allow gender identity ideology to take hold because a majority of the people genuinely believed that grown men became women the moment they said so—it happened because too many people were either too afraid to stand up and say “no” or because they were too lazy and self-absorbed to be bothered.
We are never done the fight for truth and free speech. These are the things we must be most vigilant in defending. I do believe power corrupts, and often attracts the kinds of people most lacking in integrity. This is why democracy is so important, and why rule by the people is imperitive. We must always remember—and ensure our political leaders remember—that we can vote you in and we can vote you out. You work for us, not the other way around.
“The golden age of America begins right now,” Trump announced. We cannot say the same for Canada, but I have hope that the unified vision of a better Canada—one wherein the working people rule and the elitists trying to force progressive ideology down all our throats are dismissed as the deluded clowns they are—offered by the Convoy in their defeat of authoritarian Trudeau will remain at the forefront going forward. If America can be great again, maybe Canada stands a chance.
There’s still a lot of work to do but I’m thrilled Trump is my new president. I hope seeing him win emboldens Canadians to pick a new leader that is less of a smug dickhead than Trudeau. I don’t remember when your next election is but it’s soon, right? I will be rooting for common sense to prevail.❤️
Megan
