The first time I heard of “the over-valued idea” was in an interview with UK Psychiatrist Azi Hakeem a couple of years ago, in which he shared his 10 years of experience with trans-identifying men in group therapy calling out each others’ inconsistencies. He had a 98% success rate in helping his patients talk themselves into reality, finding that most of them were autistic and were developing “trans” thoughts because of having inaccurately deciphered social cues. Very little collusion can be achieved in honest group therapy!
Before then, I saw the “trans” phenomenon as an obsessive compulsion within a social contagion. Mia has, very appropriately, surgically examined the movement and has diagnosed it more poignantly. Identifying its history and its transformations is very important. No doubt the psychiatrists were too preoccupied “with a tree to see the forest”. All the medical professionals have failed to recognize their roles in normalizing “trans” and have been the most faithful colluders in all of it. They had little insight before, but should take every opportunity to digest Mia’s observations. They ring very true.
I am still waiting for the apology I demand from the psychiatric profession for originally proposing- without observation- the idea that they had the moral authority to contravene social norms by encouraging men, who “liked to entertain they were women”, to test whether or not they passed by sending them into female washrooms to note unsuspecting women’s reactions - as though women and girls are useful tools to experiment upon, without consent; not subjects of concern with feelings and who deserved respect, safety, and dignity. No…only their patients’ wildest dreams were their focus of concern. These psychiatrists were the first trans activists, and are culpable for the destruction of women’s and girls’ spaces.
The psychiatrists determined at the outset that their male patients, being of the more powerful sex, were entitled to traumatize a vulnerable group- women. They knew the men were perfectly safe, or they wouldn’t have orchestrated such a malevolent charade. That women’s & girls’ boundaries should be violated, without warning nor concern, at their sole discretion; that putting on “woman face” should be as natural as “black-face” at the time, is a disgrace, yet they’ve never apologized for it. They have ignored all ethical responsibility in concocting this charade upon women & girls, whose personal boundaries and sexual appropriation were theirs to exploit, rather than preserve & protect. Obviously, psychiatrists, without a greater context, tended to their patients’ selfish mindset only, and completely dismissed women’s rights and concerns. Theirs was a very myopic focus - the men who claimed womanhood for themselves. Women were the direct and insignificant object- the thing upon which to impose the man’s aspirations of his sexual ideation. They eventually stole both the image and language of women- but not their roles, which was what they originally wished to fetishize.
All that’s left now is to require any authority on “trans” to justify a movement that has completely depended upon the following to propagate it:
1). The state & its institutions must validate it by force (in lieu of any compelling evidence to support it.)
2). Detractors must be vilified (in lieu of any compelling evidence to support it)
What also makes me skeptical of its credibility is:
1). It has been transmitted by a common script and demand (born in wrong body, some men can be women, women’s rights to single-sex spaces can be destroyed in service to men, everyone has a “gender” identity or soul, one can “feel” like the opposite sex, non-believers are haters, non-believing family members must be ostracized), emotional blackmail -threatening suicide, is fair game. The “trans” scripts rarely offer any personalized information, with a practised “script” offering the required phrases that compel therapists and physicians to medical action.
2). A movement that is based purely on one’s aspiration, and which is only realized and completely dependent upon the whole of society pretending and propping it up, is a “house of cards”, and should be rigorously exposed on that basis.
The easiest person to fool is oneself, next are children. Unfortunately, medicalizing, sterilizing, and propagating mistruths on such a histrionic basis is extremely damaging both to individuals and to any kind of societal cohesion.
I’m with Mia 100%.
