Over the last few weeks I have been pulling my hair out trying to explain to Canadians that Trump isn’t out to get them. He isn’t going to “invade,” and Canadians are not in a “war” with the US. (If you were, it would be over already… Like, is America going to protect you from itself?) The threat to “Canadian sovereignty” (which you already don’t really have, because Canada is incapable of surviving independently, and is protected economically and militarily by the US) is not coming from Trump, but from Prime Minister Mark Carney himself.
Earlier this month, I explained that Carney was, in his own words, seeking to link up with the European Union, in a deluded attempt to overpower the US and a less deluded attempt to create a globalist economy and government.
Lo and behold, today, the Wall Street Journal reported that “Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney is attempting an ambitious pivot toward Europe, with his team using diplomatic backchannels to negotiate an ‘associate member’ status with the European Union.”
