Our world and day to day lives have changed drastically in a very short period of time. We trust apps to do everything from find us love to maintain our health and travel itineraries. AI is meant to do our jobs for us, drive our cars for us, and predict our interests and desires. Social media feeds us the information it chooses, in exchange for sellable databases of our online behaviour. We work online, form relationships online, have sex online, share our thoughts and lives online, access food online, entertain ourselves online, and go to school online. And most of us have gone along willingly — enthusiastically even — with this technocultural revolution. But what are the consequences of melding man with machine? What have we handed over in trusting our devices with our lives? And can we get it back?

Joe Allen is the author of Dark Aeon: Transhumanism and the War Against Humanity. I spoke with him about transhumanism, AI, and why we should reject technoculture and touch grass.
