On Friday, March 8th, caWsbar (Canadian Women's Sex-Based Rights), a Canadian coalition advocating women’s sex-based rights, hosted an event celebrating International Women’s Day (sponsored by The Democracy Fund). It was lovely, and miraculously protestor-free.
It is rare that I do any event addressing the conflict between gender identity ideology and women’s rights without protestors or threats, so this was an unexpected treat. I suspect the fact that protestors didn’t turn up had something to do with the fact that the venue was a ways out of town (not downtown); the location was kept secret until the day before the event, so no interference could be planned ahead of time (generally, the strategy is to harass the venue into cancelling me/us); it is winter in Toronto, so very unpleasant to be outdoors (Fun fact, I did not bring a coat — in part because it would take up too much room in my luggage and was attempting to “pack light,” a thing that is not my strong suit, and in part because I had intented to avoid going outside. My brief encounters with the out of doors were horrific. Winter is horrific.); and because Heather Mason, an advocate for women in prison, explained to me that protestors never interfere with her events for some reason. I personally believe this to be because she has some kind of witchy protection spell cast around her, though she believes it’s because the activists don’t want to bring attention to her and her work, lest people discover what is really happening in Canadian prisons, which is that violent male predators are being housed in women’s prisons, sometimes with their infants, all with the blessing of the Canadian government.
All in all, the event was lovely and wonderful, thanks in large part to the hard work of Heather Mason, Liza Vespi, and Maureen Sullivan. I am very grateful to have been included in the event and to have witnessed exceptionally powerful talks by April Hutchinson, a Canadian powerlifter who spoke out in defense of her sport, after she discovered a man was competing as a woman, and breaking records, as well as by Heather herself.
I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to meet all the women (and men) who volunteered at the event or who attended, and came up to say hello and chat with me. Your kind words and warmth are humbling and inspiring. I am thrilled that so many are coming together to fight back against the harms of gender identity ideology in Canada. My favorite thing about these events is always meeting people in real life. I think it is so important for us to meet and talk face-to-face, as often as we can. It emboldens, us, connects us, and galvanizes us. I cannot wait for the next event!
Without further ado, the following is a cleaned up transcript of my talk:
Hi everyone. Thank you so much for coming out to the last International Woman’s Day event ever. By next year, Justin Trudeau will have determined such events illegal, and we’ll all be jail.
It’s good to be back in Canada—Tranada as its now known internationally—the most dangerous place in the world to say that men aren’t women.
I’m not even joking. I suspect some of you have heard about the Online Harms Act, Bill C-63, which will allow anonymous people to report other Canadians for posting things they don’t like on social media, potentially landing said individuals in jail for “hateful conduct,” the exact same thing I was banned from Twitter (now X) for back in 2018, when I called a man seeking a ball wax “he” and dared to point out that “men aren’t women.”
It’s interesting to behold Justin Trudeau’s complete lack of interest in concerning himself with the average Canadian or in matching his statements and policies with the cultural climate. His disdain for the regular working class Canadian was advertised to the world through his response to Covid and the Freedom Convoy, and the confidence with which he continues to try to paint Canadians who don’t want their daughters to have to share change rooms with adult men or to have to sit on the sidelines during the volleyball tournament while five dudes with ponytails get all the game time, as dangerous extremists is really impressive. It takes a lot of balls to lie to millions of people for years on end and believe you will get away with it.
He seems to have completely forgotten he’s an elected official, who can be voted out, though I suspect he will be reminded of this next election.
