Yasmine Mohammed suffered horrific abuse in her home after her mother became the second wife of a Muslim man and embraced Islam. Her life changed drastically as a young girl, as she was forced to wear the hijab, and everything she had enjoyed prior became “haram.” At 19, Yasmine was coerced into marrying a man who treated her to the same abuse and oppression, eventually being revealed as an Al-Qaida operative. She escaped and fought back, despite the incredible danger faced by those who speak out against Islam.
Today, Yasmine is a human rights campaigner, free speech advocate, founder of the Free Hearts Free Minds charity, director of the Clarity Coalition, host of the Yasmine Mohammad Podcast, and author of Unveiled: How the West Empowers Radical Muslims.
We spoke about her life growing up, how she managed to build a life of freedom, and why the West has opted to accept radicalism, rather than destroy it.
